British Values at Falcon Judo Club

Promoting British Values through judo as a club, we believe sport to be an effective vehicle for promoting British values.

Players gain an understanding of the Rule of Law when playing games, train together or compete against each other and developing the concept of fair play. Children gain an understanding of Mutual Respect through participation and showing respect to their coaches, officials and other players, by bowing to each other before and after practising.

Everyone is expected to use appropriate language at all times. Our club serves a community with significant ethnic diversity. Players have many opportunities to play and compete against others .Through these opportunities they learn the importance of Tolerance for other faiths and cultures. In our club the players gain an understanding of Democracy as they vote regularly for their captains.

Pupil voice is also recognised through pupil questionnaires, interviews and discussions. Players develop an appreciation of Individual Liberty when are encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment.

There is an ethos in our club where the views of individual pupils are listened to and respected within an acceptable framework.  Students are taught safely and about safety. Pupils are able to make judgments about their own and others’ performances.

Falcon Judo Club follows equal opportunities guidance which guarantees that there will be no discrimination against any individual or group, regardless of faith, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, political or financial status, or similar.
